Area History

The history of Union is surprisingly well documented.

The best place for the historically inclined to start would be the The Union Historical Society.

You can walk the Come Spring Heritage Trail, a ten mile self-guided tour to homesites and history of Union's first settlers.

The waterfront portion of Cool Waters Farm is the former site of location #13 on the Heritage Trail, shown as "the Site of Richard and Bet Cummings Home", which was established in 1776.

A very-well reviewed historical novel, "Come Spring", about Union and the 7 Tree Pond area, can be found on Amazon (and elsewhere).

The property which is now Cool Waters Farm came into our family in 1972. Our father bought a run-down farmhouse with an old barn slipping off its foundation; there were no orchards, lawn, landscaping or improvements. He spent many weeks every year planting, refurbishing, expanding and upgrading, and when he passed away, he left us a gorgeous property. We are hoping to keep the property in the family in perpetuity, and renting out our beloved "farm" is just part of the equation. We hope you come visit this spectacular property ... we are sure you will grow to love it as much as we do!
